Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I feel uncertain about this book. I liked it at parts and I certainly liked Travis a lot but their relationship is not my favorite. I feel like they’re too codependent in each other and though their love is more than apparent they rushed through it. They’re nineteen, at any point in their lives they could wake up and feel differently. I certainly have to read Travis’ POV to understand some of his behavior. The way he loved so fully, so completely was a bit too much. Abby too, had a lot of issues. Both did things to each other and it is amazing that they learned how to forgive those trips in the way but at the end of the book it felt forced for me. Also, talking about the ending. It was too much in my opinion. Again, they’re nineteen they didn’t have to rush through everything. I wish the ending had been more uncertain or with a promising future. I certainly enjoyed reading this and I loved Travis but his way of loving was an all or nothing (the contrast between Abby and the other women) and he rushed into things because he doesn’t know how to love fully without going over the line into codependency. Apart from that, an enjoyable read.
